When I was photographing rare butterfly and moth specimens in the Bristol Museum natural history collections - I began to notice something. As you zoom in, closer and closer, each specimen starts to lose it’s representation. They are no longer insects. Removed from their context, their wings becomes abstract, expressionist paintings.
